$700,000 splash pad opening soon

A new children’s Splash Pad is planned to open next month at one of Moreton Bay’s major aquatic centres.
Construction of the $700,000 zero-depth splash pad at Burpengary Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre is on course with the floor of the new attraction now in place.
The aim is now to complete the work and have the splash pad ready by mid-December when the school summer holidays start.
“We are so excited at Burpengary to be able to provide this attraction to the local community and can’t wait for it to open,” centre manager Tanya Fletcher said.
The splash pad will be a major addition to the Aquatic Dr centre, where Australian Olympic legend Kaylee McKeown and sister Taylor spent her junior swimming careers.
Belgravia Leisure, which operates the centre on behalf of Moreton Bay City Council, said there will be no additional charge for access to the splash pad.
“The addition of this splash pad, aimed at younger kids, will complement the vast range of facilities and activities already at this flagship venue in Moreton Bay,” Dan Cullen, Belgravia Leisure’s Queensland State Manager, said.
“These include an indoor heated 50m pool, indoor heated warm water program pool, outdoor leisure water, health club and onsite café.”
Any child in the Learn to Swim program at the Burpengary aquatic centre has free swimming access all year round.
