ARIA award-winning DJ to spin at food festival

He’s played at some of the most prestigious clubs and music festivals across the world, and now ARIA award-winning DJ Harpoon is set to bring his beats to Moreton Bay for the first time next month.

Harpoon, or Ryan Harper as he is known off stage, will get the party started when he plays two big sets at the upcoming Moreton Bay Food + Wine Festival, which returns to Woody Point from August 23-25.

“This will be my first time performing at the festival and I’m eagerly looking forward to the atmosphere, meeting new people, exploring a new location, and of course, sampling some amazing food while entertaining the masses,” he says.

“Attendees can expect a vibrant set filled with great music that aims to elevate the vibe to ensure everyone has a memorable time.

“While I have several anthems I love to play, I invite everyone to come out and experience my set firsthand. There are always a few surprises in store.”

Currently based on the Gold Coast, Ryan has worked in the music industry as a DJ for 10 years and as a producer for eight.

“The ability to create moments and memories for people through sound is what attracted me to become a DJ,” he says.

Throughout his career he has held multiple residencies including the Cali Beach Club and Kirra Beach House, collaborated with several big-named artists, and released multiple singles and EPs.

Some of his singles include So Dangerous, Can You Feel My Love, Baby I’m So Bad, Punkrocker, Goodbye (featuring Stevie Appleton), Heaven, Supposed To Do and Darker Days.

“While I focus on the music production side, I collaborate with songwriters and singers for the lyrical aspects of my tracks,” he says.

“This collaborative process allows for a more creative synergy that brings the best out of each song.”

Ryan has also secured 12 consecutive ARIA Top 10 Chart spots and two number one tracks with Heaven and another song titled In Your Mind, which graced the top spot for three weeks.

He also had an ARIA nomination for Best Dance Track.

“I’ve had the honour of achieving two number one tracks on the ARIA Charts. For those who are unfamiliar, the ARIA Charts are Australia’s official record of the most popular singles and albums based on a combination of sales and streaming data,” he says.

“These achievements are a testament to the support and love from my fans.”

He also has a loyal following on Spotify, with more than 46,000 monthly listeners.

“Knowing that so many people appreciate and engage with music is incredibly rewarding. It justifies the countless hours spent behind the scenes working on my craft,” he says.

“The connection with my audience through Spotify and other platforms is something I truly cherish.”
