International interest in the Moreton Bay region’s tourism destinations is growing, with big players taking a look for themselves in recent weeks.
Tourism and Events Queensland’s International Director for South East Asia Khim Lim and the entire Tourism and Events Queensland familiarisation team visited locations, which are already favourites among local and international guests.
Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism CEO Natassia Wheeler says Khim Lim spent a day exploring the treasures of Moreton Bay on July 9.
“Her visit was a result of successful engagements at the Australian Tourism Exchange, where we piqued her interest in discovering what Moreton Bay can offer to the South East Asian market,” Natassia explains.
“Khim explored the scenic Ocean View Estate, the charming Trevena Glen Farm, and the interactive White Ridge Farm. She concluded her day by attending our Visit Moreton Bay networking event aboard Brisbane Whale Watching, where she connected with local operators and stakeholders.
“This visit has already started yielding promising opportunities, with significant interest being expressed by her market.”
On July 24, the entire Tourism and Events Queensland familiarisation team visited the Moreton Bay region.
“This team is responsible for co-ordinating international media and trade familiarisations for Queensland from all inbound markets globally. Their visit presented a substantial opportunity to showcase the region’s diverse attractions and experiences,” Natassia explains.
“Over the course of their 48-hour visit, the team was immersed in a comprehensive itinerary covering the hinterland, Bribie Island, and the (Redcliffe) Peninsula and surrounding areas.
“This exposure was crucial as they prepare for the Australian Tourism Exchange in Brisbane in 2025. A professional photographer accompanied the group to capture these experiences, ensuring high-quality content to promote the region globally.”
Natassia says hosting the high-profile visitors is testament to the region’s growing reputation as a premier destination.
“The insights gained, and connections made, during these visits will undoubtedly contribute to increasing our region’s exposure on the international stage, driving tourism growth and economic benefits for the local community,” she says.
