Dozens of roads remain closed due to flooding across the City of Moreton Bay, as residents brace for the big clean-up.
Yesterday’s torrential rain caused widespread flash flooding and significant damage to homes, community infrastructure and roads. The full extent of which will likely take days to assess.
The worst affected areas included Bray Park, Caboolture, Morayfield and Samford.
Moreton Bay City Council opened evacuation centres yesterday afternoon for residents who had nowhere else to go.
Queensland police deployed additional officers to the city last night to patrol suburbs where looting was a considered a risk.
A flood watch remains in place for coastal communities from Caboolture to Gladstone.
Residents are being urged to stay out of floodwater and to not drive on flooded roads.
Electricity supply is still out to some customers in Morayfield.
