Driving ahead with new road plans
Published 6:00am 31 October 2024
Work is expected to start soon for a new connecting road in one of the fastest growing areas in City of Moreton Bay.
Moreton Bay City Council has approved Wattle Run’s design and operational works on upgrades to part of Bray Rd in Griffin.
This will help the arterial road handle growing traffic volumes and provide access to the new Freshwater Hub precinct.
Construction will then start on Arcadia Drive which will lead into Freshwater Village - and join Brays Rd to Wesley Rd.
Wattle Run says this will improve traffic flow in the area, particularly for Griffin State School.
A tender process is currently underway for the road upgrades and preparatory work on the Freshwater Village site.
Once a contractor has been appointed, a site office will be set up with civil works expected to start before Christmas or early in the new year.
Wattle Run says construction of the roads will take 12-18 months, with traffic control measures and some disruption likely on Brays Rd.
The contractor, when appointed, and Wattle Run will keep the community informed of changes during the work.
