Three Redcliffe students have been selected in Queensland squads for the Australian Schools Water Polo Exchange.

Tian Markart of Mueller College, Abbie McDonald from Grace Lutheran College and Amelie Hoefel of Redcliffe State High School, were selected after trials.

All three were competing in the Queensland School Sport Championship, from May 2-5, at The Valley Pool in Brisbane.

A Probables v Possibles match was held after the semi-finals and the state 13-19 teams were announced following the grand finals.

It was the second leg of a terrific hat-trick for Amelie and Abbie who also won gold medals with Sunshine Coast at the state schools’ titles.

They won the girls’ title in a dramatic penalty shootout with Met East. Met North was third and were then named in the championship’s Top 14 Merit team.

Team-mates Tiana Doyle and Mia Doyle, who both go to Grace Lutheran College, also collected gold medals at the state championships.

The dates and venue for the Australian Schools Exchange have yet to be announced.
