Five local artists and community organisations will share more than $44,000 for arts, culture and heritage projects in the City of Moreton Bay.
Recipients of the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) Round 2 will be able to bring projects to life and further their artistic goals.
“I’m thrilled Council can support local artists to pursue projects that without our support might not get off the ground,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.
“Our partnership with the Queensland Government for the RADF grants shows strong commitment to and investment in creative places, people and projects to build a vibrant community.
“The RADF grants not only provide support to local artists, but also result in quality creative experiences that bring our community together to celebrate and engage with different cultures, stories and people.
“This year we’ve invested $130,272 across 42 projects through the RADF 2023-24 program.”
The latest recipients are:
$8000 to Briony Edgar for the Salt and Steel Business Mentoring and Product Release Project
$6000 to Chelsea Lomandra for a Studio Lomandra Community Connections Podcast
$15,000 to Introspect Theatre Company Inc. for Maria the Musical
$6392 to Julie Chenery for Dance for Seniors for Falls Prevention and Wellbeing
$9483 to Louise Mayhew for the Pilot of Audio/Video reviews for Lemonade: Letters to Art
“We want artists and creatives to know there’s opportunity right here in City of Moreton Bay - from the professional development programs we offer with Cultivate the Arts events through to performing in the popular Anywhere Festival,” the Mayor said.
Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said the Queensland Government had provided $2.184 million for RADF 2023-24 to 59 local councils who have contributed $1.979 million.
