Redcliffe teenagers Amelie Hoefel and Tian Markart will be chasing more national water polo honours this week.
The duo and peninsula colleague Abbie McDonald all won medals at the Interstate Exchange in Sydney last month.
Now Mueller College student Markart and Hoefel, from Redcliffe State High School, are gearing up for the National States competition.
There they will face the best under 15 and under 17 players in Australia over five days on the Gold Coast, starting on Thursday.
Hoefel will also be playing at the All Schools tournament in Brisbane from October 5-7.
It follows last month’s 13-17 years Interstate Exchange in Rose Bay where Markart, Hoefel and Abbie McDonald were in Queensland school sport teams.
Markart was goalkeeper for the boys’ side which went through the competition unbeaten and retained its title from last year.
Queensland beat New South Wales Independent Schools (NSWIS) in the gold medal match and Markart was named in the Championship Merit team.
Field player Hoefel and goalkeeper McDonald, a student at Grace Lutheran College, won their places in the girls’ team at the Queensland Schools competition, where both were named in the Merit team.
Unfortunately, Queensland came up just short in the Exchange, going down to NSWIS in the gold medal match.
