Golfers asked to chip in and save history

Golfers who enjoy playing a round on the green are being encouraged to register a team for the fourth annual This Story Australia Charity Golf Day.

Hosted by Moreton Bay filmmaker Jeff Hughes, the annual fundraiser helps him to raise much-needed funds so he can produce documentaries featuring veterans’ war stories before they are lost forever.

Teams will tee off at the Redcliffe Golf Course on Friday, August 2, which will see teams of four competing in an 18-hole Ambrose.

With the golf day being his biggest fundraiser, Jeff says he is grateful for the community’s support to help preserve our nation’s military history.

“In the past four years I have interviewed more than 80 veterans across nearly every state and territory in Australia,” Jeff says.

“I have also worked with many different organisations like Wandering Warriors, Australian Peacekeepers and Peacekeeper Veterans Association.

“The golf days have been extremely popular in the past, so I am hoping for another great turnout this year.

“The early bird cut off date is July 14, so act quickly to register a team.”

There will be prizes for first, second and third places, as well as the hole in one competition for a new car.

“If there are any businesses who would be interested in sponsoring the event, or would like to donate a prize, please get in touch,” Jeff says.
