A worldwide IT outage is affecting businesses, individuals and organisations across the City of Moreton Bay.

Moreton Bay City Council has issued a message on its Facebook page saying its websites have been caught up in the outage.

“We are working with our service provider to restore normal service operations as a priority,” the message said.

“You can continue to report emergencies via our after hours number on 3205 0555, or report non-urgent issues via the Snap, Send, Solve app.”

There is chaos at airports and travellers have been advised to await information from their airlines, with Jetstar cancelling some flights and baggage services delayed.

Some businesses including supermarkets and petrol stations have also been affected.

It is being reported that the outage, which started about 3pm, is affecting Microsoft devices. It is unclear when it will be resolved.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese issued the following statement on Facebook a short time ago.

“I understand Australians are concerned about the outage that is unfolding globally and affecting a wide range of services,” the statement said.

“My Government is working closely with the National Cyber Security Coordinator.

There is no impact to critical infrastructure, government services or Triple-0 services at this stage.

“The National Coordination Mechanism has been activated and is meeting now.”
