Moreton Bay residents to enjoy long weekend

Plenty of Moreton Bay locals won’t have to set their alarms for work on Monday with the city set to celebrate the Royal Queensland Show (EKKA) public holiday.

The Council voted in favour of the three-day public holiday in June last year, with Mayor Peter Flannery saying at the time a three-day weekend “is much better than a mid-week break”.

This means a number of Council facilities such as customer services centres, libraries, and museums will be closed.

Residents are also being encouraged to double check the varying trading hours for supermarkets and other retail vendors across the EKKA long weekend.

Monday's public holiday also extends to residents who live in Logan, Somerset, the Lockyer Valley, and Scenic Rim.

Brisbane’s public holiday will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 14.
