Patching up our region's potholes

Heavy rain left its mark on many roads across the City of Moreton Bay this week – but pothole repairs are already under way.

Teams from Moreton Bay City Council (MBCC) and Queensland Transport and Main Roads (TMR) have been working on major and minor routes.

At the time of writing, MBCC has 96 “pothole defects” registered from Council’s AI data, attached to garbage trucks, since March 21.

There have also been 152 “customer notifications” about potholes in Council-controlled roads, taking the total to 248.

Roads most impacted include Mt Samson Rd, Camp Mountain Rd, Caboolture River Rd, Winn Rd, Mackie Rd, Kremzow Rd, Xanadu Crescent and Nonmus Rd.

A spokesperson for TMR said “repairs are being undertaken as soon as possible” on State-controlled roads in this region.

“Wet weather has impacted the network and potholes have increased on state-controlled roads as a result,” the spokesperson said.

“We are undertaking regular inspections to identify and repair potholes across the network.

“Safety issues are addressed as a priority and interim repairs may be done until permanent treatments can be scheduled.”

TMR urges all road users to “drive safely to the prevailing conditions” as “periods of heavy and extended rain mean potholes can form quickly”.
