Picnic Hill returns
Grab your picnic blankets and chairs because much-loved Picnic Hill returns on March 8 with another family-friendly community event for everyone to enjoy.
Redcliffe Area Youth Space (RAYS) Communications and Development Manager Cath Doyle says the community can expect an evening full of joy.
“At Picnic Hill, there is something for everyone…” Cath says.
“There will be live music, kids’ activities and games, a variety of food trucks, a chance for the young and not so young to use their creative skills to help us produce a people’s mural, an on-stage graffiti artist and an on-site bar.”
There will be a variety of local talent taking the Picnic Hill stage, including Detour Band, young performers from ROAR Academy, The Phosphenes, graffiti artist OSKR, Grace Alexandra, Petra Maher and youth space staff member, ‘Stub Born’.
Cath says the events that take place on Picnic Hill are community-driven and it's the reason RAYS’ hosts such events.
“As a place-based service, we value and understand the importance of community and belonging,” Cath says.
“Picnic Hill is a great way to build and foster community relationships, and further create opportunities for the social inclusion of young people.
“We love that we are able to provide a great night out for all ages – at a very low cost…
“There is nothing better than looking up from the stage area and seeing kids, mums, dads and grandparents perched on picnic blankets and camp chairs just enjoying a nice relaxing and fun Friday night together.”
There will be a variety of different market stalls and food vendors available on the night, with most vendors offering vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.
Entry into Picnic Hill is a gold coin donation, with free admission for children. All proceeds go towards helping RAYS continue to deliver support to youth in the Moreton Bay region.
“This is what gave us the drive to create Picnic Hill – to not only raise needed funds, but to create awareness around the work we do and to reinforce that. It takes a village, and we are all a part of that village,” Cath says.
