Redcliffe driver Kyle Evans was on the podium again in round five of debut season in Australian Formula Open.
The 20-year-old was third in the first two races and feature event, the Errol Gilmour Memorial Cup, at Queensland Raceway near Ipswich.
The latter is a tribute to the owner of Gilmour Racing – the team Evans drives for - and father of former Australian Formula Three champion Chris.
Chris races in the Memorial Cup as a tribute to his father. Kyle Evans is driving a Gilmour Racing/KCK Racing 2011 Dallara Formula 3 this season.

After the Cup race, Evans told Greg Rust of Channel 7 Plus: “It took us a bit in practice to try and get on the pace of these quicker guys, but we kept third in the end.
“Beau Russell behind was giving us a bit of flack at the end, but held third in the end so pretty happy with the results.”
Evans started with a 4am alarm call on Friday – the day after his birthday - to be at the raceway for a 6am driver’s briefing ahead of three practice sessions.
In the first qualifying session, on Saturday, he clocked a personal best lap time of 1 minute 4.8656 seconds to start third and held that position at the chequered flag.
Race two on Sunday produced the same result as did the longer Errol Gilmour Memorial Cup, leaving Evans third overall for the weekend.
He collected 28 points to add to the 113 from the four previous rounds to sit on 141, behind Miles Bromley 163 and Ryan MacMillan 196.
The penultimate round of this year’s Australian Formula Open is at Sydney Motorsport Park on October 18-20.
