Post office to close in weeks
Published 3:30pm 30 May 2024
Redcliffe Post Office, at Bluewater Square, will shut its doors for the last time next month.
The post office, which fronts onto Sutton St, will permanently close at 5pm on Friday July 12.
“Australia Post has made the difficult decision to close the Redcliffe Post Shop following a 25 per cent fall in customer visits over the past five years,” an Australia Post spokesperson said.
“The surrounding area is well-serviced, with four post offices within a 5km radius, including the Redcliffe North Post Office which is 1.5km or a five minutes’ drive away.
“Team members will be offered roles at surrounding post offices or closer to home.”
Those with PO Boxes at the Bluewater Square post office will be able to open a new box at one of the nearby outlets.
Australia Post is also offering PO Box holders a free six-month mail redirection.
Other post offices on the peninsula are Margate Beach Licensed Post Office, Kippa-Ring Post Office, Scarborough Licensed Post Office, Woody Point Licensed Post Office and Clontarf Beach Licensed Post Office and Clontarf Centre.
