"Pure joy" - Izaack's in remission
Izaack Powell, the Peninsula Power footballer battling leukaemia for a second time, is in remission.
The news was revealed in an emotional post by his family on social media.
"After a long, hard, all consuming and emotional 102 days, hearing the word ‘Remission’ was pure joy," it said.
"Grateful for the ongoing support of all our family and friends, staff of RBH Cancer care, Peninsula Power FC, Brisbane Roar, Strength to Give, Gift of Life Marrow Registry and of course the life-saving Stem cells from India."
Among the following comments was one from Power which said: “Crying happy tears for you all. Well done Izaack”.
Team-mates and club officials added their delight saying “fantastic news”, “superb news” and “such great news”.

delighted to hear it! With you every step of the way, Izaack.”
Powell describes Peninsula Power is his “home club” having been there for six years, from the age of five.
He also played for Albany Creek Excelsior (ACE) and Moreton Bay United before joining Brisbane Roar’s youth ranks, playing 36 times and winning a grand final.
Powell made his professional A-League debut in February 2019, just days short of his 17th birthday and played for Australia in the FIFA under-17s World Cup that year.
He discovered the leukaemia had returned after a routine 12-monthly check-up earlier this year.
Powell continued training and playing for Power, despite the diagnosis, only missing one senior game in the opening months of the NPL and cup competitions.
A GoFundMe page was launched by Michelle Feuerrigel, a life member of Power, to support Powell, who needed a bone marrow transplant as a “long-term solution”.
Powell was first diagnosed with leukaemia – a cancer of the white blood cells which start in the bone marrow – in June 2021, while playing for Roar. He was cleared six months later.
