Red Dragons Christmas lolly run

The Redcliffe Red Dragons Boat Club will take to the Newport canals for some early Christmas cheer.

The Christmas lolly run is the club’s highly anticipated paddle that happens each year to bring a different kind of festive spirit to the community.

President of the Redcliffe Red Dragons Andrea Coe says the evening paddle is a fun evening for everyone involved.

“We dress up, play some Xmas music and deliver lollies and dog treats to the residents on the Newport canals,” Andrea says.

“Look out for us between 6-7pm on Wednesday, December 20. Flyers are being delivered to residents living on the canals we will be visiting.”

The lolly run is an integral part of the Redcliffe Red Dragons as a way to acknowledge and thank the community.

“We have a yearly lolly run as a way of saying thank you to the residents that live on the canals,” Andrea says.

“We train three times a week and share the waterways with many resident kayakers and boats as well, occasionally causing the odd dog to bark at us as we paddle past!”

The Christmas lolly run is a members-only event, but new paddlers are always welcome to join the club throughout the year.

"If anyone would like to try a paddle with us…we offer a Dragon Pass where new paddlers can come along and try Dragon Boating for free for a whole month. This is a great way to try out a new sport,” Andrea explains.
