Treasure troves of eccentricities will be unveiled at The Keeper: Collectors and their Collections exhibition which opens in Pine Rivers Heritage Museum on Wednesday.

Council put a call out to the community to display their collections and discovered Moreton Bay has more hidden gems than many thought possible.

“My personal favourite is the out-of-this-world PEZ dispenser collection featuring over 1000 quirky candy dispensers from all around the world,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.

“Carrie Fisher once said, ‘You’re not famous until you’re a PEZ dispenser’, and this collection is a testament to that with a collection that spans Star Wars, Disney, The Muppets, and heaps more.

“Dolly Parton fans will be ready to break the 9-5 for a collection of over 50 memorabilia items, including Dollywood relics, vintage movie posters, rare records and more.”

The Mayor said history buffs will be mesmerised by a unique collection of historical Chinese paintings and stone rubbings from the Mao era that have been saved from destruction.

“And for the thrifters, we’ve got you covered with a wardrobe straight from the past! Gloves, handbags, lapel pins - you name it, we’ve got it,” he said.

“That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Moreton Bay’s collecting community is all here, laid out for us to be amazed by these unique treasures.”

Mark your calendars as The Keeper: Collectors and their Collections comes to Pine Rivers Heritage Museum from June 5 to August 12, 2024.
