Striding towards safer crossing

Work will start soon on making it safer for pedestrians to cross at the roundabout on Anzac Ave and Marine Pde in Redcliffe.

The $1.3 million project will reduce the number of lanes pedestrians have to cross. Transport and Main Roads says “a few parking spaces” will be removed.

“Currently, pedestrians need to cross multiple lanes of traffic on Anzac Avenue,” Transport Minister Bart Mellish said.

“By realigning the crossings and reconfiguring the roundabout to single lanes, potential conflicts between drivers and pedestrians will be reduced.

"Every effort will be made to keep disruptions and noise to a minimum while works are undertaken.

“We understand roadworks can be frustrating and acknowledge the cooperation and patience of residents and businesses while we deliver these important safety improvements.”

Work will be carried out during the day and are expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete, weather and construction conditions permitting.

The project is being funded by the State Government’s project under the Queensland Government’s Targeted Road Safety Program.
