Plans have been lodged for 80 units in two towers on the site of a former shopping centre in the heart of Moreton Bay region.

The proposal is for 40 one-bedroom and 40 two-bedroom units on the corner of Anzac Ave and Cecily St, Kallangur.

It will form part of a six-storey development on the 2.87-hectare site where Tulip Town Shopping Centre stood from 1990 until 2003.

The application (DA), publicly available on Moreton Bay City Council’s website, shows plans for “multiple dwellings and short-term accommodation”.

The latter would “provide short-term accommodation for tourists or travellers for a temporary period of time”.

There would also be space for health care services, an office, shop and food and drink outlet with 86 basement and 42 ground floor parking spaces.

For bike riders there would be 86 residential spaces on the basement level and 20 at ground level.

Construction, beside one of Moreton Bay region’s biggest arterial roads, would be in two stages, with the western tower first and then the eastern tower.

Broader plans for the site show a main entrance off Cecily St and a service station fronting on to Anzac Ave.
