Truckies revving up for toy run
Published 4:57am 27 November 2024
Truckies are invited to join a special toy run across the Moreton Bay region to help families affected by domestic violence.
The “run” will be on Saturday December 7 from Brendale to Pelican Park, Clontarf with all entrants asked to bring an unwrapped toy.
Visitors are welcome to join the fun at Pelican Park, check out the Brisbane Truckies Toy Run rigs and climb inside for a look around.
Chris Doosey, director of Bean Express and The Mower Supastore Brendale, came up with the idea for a toy run last year.
He aims to bring the community together for a meaningful cause and “wants as many trucks and toys as possible” for next month’s event.
The convoy will leave The Mower Supastore, in Leitches Rd, Brendale, at 5pm, travel along Kremzow Rd and turn right to Gympie Rd.
It will continue to the Deagon Deviation and then across the bridge to Redcliffe, taking the right lane on the Hornibrook Esp and into Pelican Park.
Mr Doosey is also president of the annual Brisbane Convoy for Kids, which attracts hundreds of trucks for a huge convoy from Larapinta to Redcliffe Showgrounds.
The 15th annual Convoy was held earlier this month raising funds for the Hummingbird House Foundation.
Queensland’s only children’s hospice provides short stay breaks, family support, end of life care and ongoing care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

The Mower Supastore in Brendale also has a Christmas display for those wishing to donate toys.
