Construction has started in Rothwell on a new McDonald’s restaurant which will create more than 220 jobs during construction and when open.

McDonald’s says the restaurant, at 730 Deception Bay Rd, is also expected to inject more than $5 million into the local economy.

It will be owned and operated by licensee Gary Coyne, who joined McDonald’s as a licensee more than 29 years ago and now employs more than 950 people.

He already has McDonald’s at Dakabin, Deception Bay, Kallangur, Murrumba Downs, North Lakes, North Lakes Business Park, North Lakes Westfield, Strathpine Town Centre and Warner.

“We are excited to start construction on a new restaurant in Moreton Bay and create 100 construction jobs, as well as 120 operational jobs once the restaurant opens,” Gary said.

“As well as supporting local causes and groups that are important to our customers and people including Ronald McDonald House Charities.”

It will be fitted with solar panels, a heat recovery water system and LED lighting, reducing emissions and energy use as well as wheel stops containing recycled materials.
