Renowned FMX stuntman Harry Bink landed a double backflip, on his motorbike, on Redcliffe Jetty - the first of its kind performed on a pier this morning.

The world-first stunt happened as Channel 9’s Today breakfast show filmed a weather segment on the jetty.

Bink is the ambassador for the Fox Australian Supercross Championship, which will be held at Redcliffe’s Kayo Stadium on October 12.

He successfully completed the double backflip, stopping quickly to avoid riding off the end of the jetty.

Tickets are on sale now.

The event is returning to Queensland for the first time in five years, with Redcliffe hosting the opening round.

Championship director Kelly Bailey is predicting a sell-out crowd on Saturday October 12 for the double header (two main races) format.

“We’re thrilled to return the championship to Queensland where we’ve always been so incredibly supported,” Bailey says.

“Australian Supercross has had strong past success in Queensland – from 2019 in Brisbane to Coolum, Jimboomba, and Toowoomba to name a few locations.

“Timings have aligned to secure Kayo Stadium, where we believe the location, shape and size will produce a world-class track and allow for a bumper crowd, atmosphere, and weekend.”

Moreton Bay City Council Mayor Peter Flannery says the event will deliver a weekend of entertainment.

“We know Australian Supercross events are hugely popular for moto-loving fans,” Mayor Flannery says.

“This is an incredible opportunity to bring Australia’s best riders and some international stars to Moreton Bay.”
